Carl is a wonderful guitarist !! One from a whole series. hasselblad 503cx tri-x zeiss 80m
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/au/ I'm away from my desk for a few weeks...... chasing more light. .... still away..... maybe the sun is chasing me? Have loads to catch up on when I get back including other peoples' work here in a-3. In a back street internet cafe in Bangkok, been to Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hoi An is a pure delight. almost untouched, authentic..... spend the days hauling my gear and disappearing into the culture... doesn't get much better

a really miss a waist level viewfinder and the rendering of the zeiss is perfect.

@ordinaryimages: I actually use a prism viewfinder on my Hasselblad, and I do know what you mean however, as there is nothing quite as wonderful as composing your image in a waist level view.
great shot. next best thing to being there.

@bluechameleon: thanks again bluechameleon for your most generous comments here. He was sitting on the floor after just explaining to me his change in picking techniques. I thought and wanted to convey his naturalness.
I love his expression and the absolute clarity of the blacks and whites.

@lisa v: Thanks Lisa. Carl is a very expressive person. I am personally trilled with this shot as it was taken on my hasselblad medium format using a hand held light meter and focus is not all that easy. The natural light in the room was perfect. I do love the way the Zeiss lens does what it also does in treating the light with respect and gentleness, perhaps the quality of a german lens like this 80m one is known for this effect. The Japanese lenses are wonderful and sharp and maybe a tad more contrast than the german lenses like this one. My lens I dated 1980's. Then again the medium format film is truly spectacular !! 6x6cm I'm sqaure man !
