constuction zone

Bangkok. This is one of a series of photos taken of a row of 21 homes that were originally destroyed in a freak fire. The homes were underneath an overhead expressway. No one was harmed. They are in the process of rebuilding 21 homes. This is the slow process of concrete structures. The workers have no safety requirements and my friends families were helping to speed things along. The local Government is organising and funding this but it is taking forever. Meanwhile my friends and their families are living in makeshift temporary homes. I cannot believe how happy they are. This really inspired me and made me realise that life isn't tough at all. I will never be the same after this experience. Bless them all.

Thank GOD no one was hurt! That is so terribly sad, but also inspiring. I can't believe the courage and their ability to bounce back, and to be happy after losing everything. Very good lesson to be learned here!
This photo is awesome! I love the way it looks as if they're a few shots spliced together with the walls framing the people separately. Did that make sense? :)

@Tamara: Yes you are making total sense there. Many thanks for your comments Tamara !

One can feel the inspiration and hope in this shot...a beautiful project I say.
Nice use of the midtones here Matt, still rich with detail.

@bluechameleon: Thank you Blue. It was a very bright day with lots of concrete. The 80m lens copes well under these circumstances too. Its a soft lens which helps keep the contrast down.

Great PJ shot. You captured the feeling very well. Hasselblad 503cx! tsk tsk, where was the Leica. HCB would not approve ;-).

P.S. I hope those folks get back into thier homes soon.

@DonLon: Thanks DL. Apreciate this. WHats a PJ? The Leica ran out of film ;-) Henri would have drawn the picture huh. Yes they are slowly rebuilding. I hope to show updates later on here.
