Hoi An Museum. I was having a rest, and had a "HCB" moment when I saw this "white hat"...

Just after writing my message, I was wondering why a square image ? Of course : Hasselblad 6X6 ;-)

@Jean-Michel: yes my lovely old hasselblad - its good to be "square" !!!

gbe from kansas city, United States

yes, i'd say the moment was indeed decisive. that hat, and decaying building, and the modern motor bikes - it all comes together perfectly.

@gbe: thank you Grant.

Pavla from Saint James City, United States

wonderful and so sharp! How many different cameras do you have!! I'm quite jealous! And when you travel, do you bring all of them with you?

22 Sep 2008 4:20pm

@Pavla: Thanks Pavla ;-) When the lens is properly in focus (user [me] error sometimes prevents this) the 6x6cm negs can produce lovely results. I list my cameras in my "about" page here. Ahhh don't be jealous. If I had to choose one one over many it would be the little rangefinder Leica with a 35m lens. I used to take as many as I could when I went away, but I decided to protect my shoulders from strain ;-) and learning from my mistakes of film getting affected (as it has above) by Airport xray scanners I may use digital more when traveling overseas.

lisa v from Gawler, Australia

ah yes, how could you not take this shot? a photographer's moment indeed.

@lisa v: thanks Lisa

HCB would be proud! THe woman framed in the door is perfect. As for digital I am a fan of good small cameras. I get tired of lugging the D2x around. Great camera, but very heavy. I just saw this which has potential

Or mabe this with the a set of 25mm,50mm,75mm!

@NADINE DERUYCK: Thank you Nadine !! I am happy you like it as well. It was a great moment for me when this happened. I think it really captures the age and history of vietnam.
